The Twenty-Four Hour Party! Bring It On!

Please forgive us if you’ve received more than one email about all the election-related events going on in the next 24 hours. We’re sending this email to remind you about the Every Vote Counts! Rally we’re putting on tomorrow afternoon at Wooldridge Square Park (from 1:00 to 3:00, or as long as the rain holds off). We also want to make sure you know about a couple other fantastic Democratic party/rallies and let you know what the folks at the Travis County Democratic Party’s coordinated campaign need us to do in the next 72 hours–right up to Election Day when democracy returns to Texas!

The Every Vote Counts! Rally will take place tomorrow November 5th from 1:00 to 3:00 at Wooldridge Park (9th and Guadalupe). This is the rally for everyone who’s ready to take Texas back! We’ll have balloons and lemonade, speakers, and lots of fun. We hope entire families will come out to celebrate democracy. We’ll be just two blocks from the Governor’s Mansion, so bring your loudest voice and any bell you can find. Let’s give Rick Perry something to think about (wait, not sure he can really do that) and have a wonderful afternoon together.

Tonight, there’s a free GOTV rally and concert–Tejano Blues–at Victory Grill (1104 E. 11th St) with Chris Bell in attendance. Doors open at 7:00 pm, closing at 1:00 am. Tejano Blues is BYOB and features live music by Omerta Ignored, The Blues Specialists featuring Mel Davis, Roger Velasquez and also includes headliners, Cyril Neville & Tribe 13.

Tomorrow, from 2:00 until 9:00, the Travis County Democratic Party will host their biennial fundraiser Red State Blues at Threadgills South. This is going to be a great party! The terrific lineup includes Congressman Lloyd Doggett at 6:30 and Grupo Fantasma following him. It’s $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Finally, what can you do today, tomorrow, and Monday to get out the vote? I asked Sandra Ramos at the Travis County Democrats Coordinated Campaign that question yesterday. Number one, call or email the people you know and tell them why you’re voting the way you are this year. That personal outreach does more then anything else. If you’ve already done that, you can make phone calls to other Democratic voters on behalf of the party. Everything you need to know how to do it is online at http://www.truebluetravis.com. And, of course, there’s more block walking to be done. Block walking packets will be available to pick up in the Threadgills parking lot all day tomorrow–immediately following the Susan Komen Race for the Cure in the morning and throughout the day. You don’t have to go to the race or Red State Blues to pick up a packet–just stop by.

Everyone, thank you so much for everything you’re doing. We know you want things to change in Texas. We know you’re excited about the remarkable set of candidates running for office in Central Texas. We also know that you’re probably feeling pretty nervous and pretty tired by this point. So come out tonight or tomorrow if being around other excited, hopeful and slightly nervous people will make you feel less alone. And if parties and rallies aren’t your thing, have a great weekend and thanks for getting out the vote on Tuesday.
